Photographs

Today I started looking through
A box of photographs,
Some were from the present,
Some were from the past,
Images and memories
Frozen there in time,
I boarded a train called yesterday,
And left today behind.
There were some of people,
Still here, and some were gone,
Some pictured my parents,
And my sister who passed on,
There were pictures of my children
The things they done and said,
And there was me in glasses,
When I was just a kid.
There were pictures of the people,
The ones I truly knew,
And tears were mingling with my smiles
I thought of things we'd do.
And now, I'm closing up this box,
I stash it in a trunk,
To some it's priceless treasures,
To some it's only junk,
But I know I never will forget,
Or ever throw them away,
For once in awhile I board this train,
That goes back to yesterday.
I wrote this poem when my husband died. Though I've never seen photos, I still imagine what it would be like to see them.

I used to have a reel-to-reel recorder and tapes with voices from my family some of whom are long gone. I guess that's like sound photographs.

But, you put it ever so better than I ever could.

Thanks.

I have got quite a few photographs of animals I've met and I normally label them, but if someone describes the photograph to me if they don't know who is in the phtograph, I don't know what to write on the photo album to remind me who or what they are.

If someone, maybe a family member, looked at the photos and described them verbally into a recording, would that be something like being able to see the photos? A family member or close friend might be best because they would likely understand the nuances, what the pictures really meant.
